(Simcoe, Norfolk County) On June 14, 2014 at approximately 4:45pm Norfolk County Fire & Rescue Services responded to a reported structure fire at 14 Norfolk Street South: Serafina restaurant.
Upon arrival firefighters discovered smoke coming from the basement of the building. Firefighters were able to quickly determine the point of origin and bring the fire under control.
Norfolk County fire stations 1 (Simcoe), 3 (Waterford) and 5 (Delhi) responded to the scene.
The business operators were at the restaurant at the time of the fire and were able to escape quickly and without injury after being alerted to the fire by the business’s working fire alarm, and the spread of the fire was contained by the installed fire separations.
No firefighters were injured during the operation.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined.  Damage to the building and its contents is estimated to be $20,000.
