(Simcoe, Norfolk County) On April 3, 2014 at approximately 12:16 pm Norfolk County Fire & Rescue Services responded to a reported structure fire at 1468 McDowell Road East.

Upon arrival firefighters discovered heavy smoke coming from the second story of the dwelling.  Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control.

Norfolk County fire stations 1 (Simcoe), 3 (Waterford) and 5 (Delhi) responded to the scene.

Damage to the house is estimated at $150,000. The cause of the fire is undetermined.  One adult member of the family was home at the time of the fire and was able to escape quickly and without injury after being alerted to the fire by the homes working smoke alarms.  No firefighters were injured during the operation.
