November 18, 2012 at approximately 10:15 pm Norfolk County Fire & Rescue Services responded to a reported structure fire located at 4 St. James Street in Renton. 

Upon arrival firefighters discovered heavy smoke and flames coming from an unoccupied two storey home that was undergoing renovations. Firefighters battled the blaze for approximately 2 hours before bringing the fire under control.  No injuries have been reported and no firefighters were injured during the operation. 

Norfolk County fire stations 2 (Port Dover), 1 (Simcoe), 3 (Waterford) and 5 (Delhi) were dispatched as well as a tanker from Haldimand Station 3 (Jarvis). The area is not serviced by fire hydrants.

Damage to the home and its contents is extensive and estimated at $150,000. The cause of the blaze is undetermined and unintentional.
