The Great Escape Home Fire Drill

(Simcoe, Norfolk County) – This Friday, September 28, 2012 Norfolk County will be holding a community wide fire drill. Under the direction of Norfolk County Fire and Rescue Services, residents are encouraged to develop and practice a home fire escape plan.

Norfolk County fire safety education staff have visited all elementary schools and given direction to students in creating a fire escape plan customized to their individual home.

At six o’clock Friday evening local radio station CD 98.9 will broadcast an announcement for families to begin their home fire drill.

Students are encouraged to bring a copy of their home fire escape plan to the Norfolk County Fair during the first week of October and drop it off at the Fire/Rescue booth to be eligible to win one of three prizes: a family trip to Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls, an adventure package courtesy of Long Point Eco-Adventures, or a pizza party/ station tour at a Norfolk County fire hall.

October 7 – 13 is Fire Prevention Week. This year’s theme is “Have Two Ways Out”.

Norfolk County Fire & Rescue Services will be at the fair each day providing tours of the fire safety trailer and answering questions at our fire safety display booth.
