The Norfolk County Fire Department has received Superior Tanker Shuttle Service Accreditation for ALL Norfolk County fire districts.

2023 SUPERIOR TANKER SHUTTLE SERVICE LETTER OF ACCREDITATION

Norfolk County Fire Department is pleased to announce that Fire Underwriters have completed their testing and received the Superior Tanker Shuttle Service Accreditation.   Norfolk County now has the Superior Tanker Shuttle Service Accreditation for ALL fire districts.

Superior Tanker Shuttle Service accreditation is considered equivalent to hydrant protection and is recognized by a majority of insurance providers in Canada.   The accreditation demonstrates our ability to fight fires in rural areas quickly and effectively by providing a continuous flow of water to fire scenes not serviced by municipal hydrants.

WHAT DOES THE ACCREDITATION MEAN TO RURAL RESIDENTS?

Most importantly, the Superior Tanker Shuttle Service Accreditation means that Norfolk County Fire Department has demonstrated an improved ability to transport water to rural fire scenes to better protect our citizens.

Residents in rural areas that meet Fire Underwriter’s criteria may receive a reduction on their property insurance premiums. Residents are encouraged to contact their insurance agents for details regarding their specific policies and if your address is in an accredited area.

HOW FAR ARE YOU FROM A FIRE STATION?

Residents are encouraged to contact their insurance agents for details regarding their specific policies and if your address is in an accredited area.   If you would like to determine how far your property is from a fire station or water source, you can utilize a mapping site such as mapquest or google maps. Insert your address and the address of the closest fire station/water source to determine the distance, or simply drive from your house to the fire station/water source closest to you and check the distance on your odometer.
