SUPERIOR TANKER SHUTTLE SERVICE LETTER OF ACCREDITATION
Norfolk County Fire Department is pleased to announce that Fire Underwriters have completed their testing and the fire districts of Waterford, Teeterville, Delhi, Fairground and Vittoria have been awarded the Superior Tanker Shuttle Service Accreditation. Norfolk County now has the Superior Tanker Shuttle Service Accreditation for nine fire districts; Waterford, Teeterville, Delhi, Courtland, Langton, Fairground, Port Rowan, St. Williams, and Vittoria.
Superior Tanker Shuttle Service accreditation is considered equivalent to hydrant protection and is recognized by a majority of insurance providers in Canada. The accreditation demonstrates our ability to fight fires in rural areas quickly and effectively by providing a continuous flow of water to fire scenes not serviced by municipal hydrants.
WHAT DOES THE ACCREDITATION MEAN TO RURAL RESIDENTS?
Most importantly, the Superior Tanker Shuttle Service Accreditation means that Norfolk County Fire Department has demonstrated improved ability to transport water to rural fire scenes to better protect our citizens.
Four fire districts within Norfolk County received the Superior Tanker Shuttle Service Accreditation in June of 2013. Norfolk County Fire Department is continuing their efforts to certify additional rural areas in the coming months.
Residents in rural areas that meet Fire Underwriters criteria may receive a reduction on their property insurance premiums. Residents are encouraged to contact their insurance agents for details regarding their specific policies and if your address is in an accredited area.
